options, through which a CAD Manager can deliver CAD standards
and design automation. The configuration and deployment
of SiteMenu is accomplished using standard text editing
tools and network administration procedures. The result
is a low-overhead solution for improving CAD standards
compliance.
NetSPEX
NetSPEX is
a total solution for CAD standards development,
maintenance, deployment, and enforcement
in any enterprise - large or small. NetSPEX includes interface
tools to facilitate the placement of standard-compliant
drawing components; administrative tools to aid in the
development, deployment, and management of CAD standards;
and a standards compliance checker, useful
for enforcing standards in new work or bringing legacy
drawings into compliance with a new specification.
NetSPEX is database-driven and web-enabled, offering
the benefit of a single data source combined with enterprise-wide
deployment over the Web. Changes and new additions to
the CAD standards database become available immediately
to all users and locations throughout the enterprise.
The result is a complete CAD standards management system,
whereby all applications are always up-to-date,
from the drawing standards interface to compliance checking
and documentation.

Licensing and Cost
Both products are offered under concurrent licensing,
allowing customers to own fewer licenses based on the
maximum number of concurrent users.
Both products are also available under a unique licensing
option for subconsultants and off-line users who do not
require CAD standards editing capabilities.
NetSPEX includes four main
software components: NetSPEX Central Server, NetSPEX Administrator,
NetSPEX Designer, and NetSPEX Compliance Checker. When
the implementation involves multiple sites, an optional
module might also be installed, known as NetSPEX Mirror
Server. A typical NetSPEX installation consists of one
copy of Central Server plus one or more copies of Designer,
based on concurrent user licensing. NetSPEX Designer sells
for $300 (or less) per license, depending on quantity.
NetSPEX server applications will vary in cost depending
on configuration. NetSPEX Administrator is included with
NetSPEX Central Server and NetSPEX Compliance Checker
is integrated with NetSPEX Designer.
SiteMenu can be purchased under a variety
of options including Individual, Site,
and Enterprise licenses. Prices range from $250
for an Individual license to as low as $25 per user for
Enterprise licenses, depending on the number of users.
